YOUTH CLASSES: GRADES 6-12

The Chicago Industrial Arts & Design Center (CIADC) Youth Pathways Program is a school-year educational series for grades 6-12 that exposes Students to hands-on, industrial arts and nurtures interests that can lead to post-secondary pathway opportunities in STEM, Trade, and Art/Design.

Industrial arts:

  • is the skills required to make objects using industrial tools, processes, and technology

  • is the hands-on applications of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math

  • is the foundation for many sustainable careers

CIADC teaches creative industrial arts through 4 Department offerings: Casting and Molding, Metalworking & Forging, Technology & Design, and Woodworking.

In Youth Pathways Program Classes, Students:

  • learn real-world skills

  • work on projects from start-to-finish

  • discover processes used in the design and manufacture of objects

  • connect the skills and processes learned to real-world applications in STEM, Trade, and Art/Design

  • develop project management and problem-solving skills, grow confidence, and gain responsibility

At CIADC, all this is done in a safe, non-intimidating and fun manner
